Buttons, in Time

It distills four decades of interface history into the most ordinary possible specimen: a button. System 1, Platinum, Aqua, Big Sur, and the stops between them become surprisingly easy to compare.

You can drag across the timeline, jump directly to any of the eleven years, or press play and let the button evolve on its own.

Each specimen can be pressed, complete with a Macintosh startup chime. It is a small detail that turns design history into something you can poke.
